Falls Prevention Awareness Week - September 22-26, 2025

Falls Prevention Awareness Week is a national health campaign observed on the first day of fall to increase awareness around falls health and injury prevention. Falling is not a normal part of aging. You can prevent falls by doing the right exercises, making your home safer, getting regular health check-ups, and more. Evidence-based programs to promote health and help prevent falls are taking place across the state and may be available at your local Senior Center. Maryland Falls Free Coalition​

Maryland is home to the Maryland Falls Free Coalition, an interprofessional group of falls prevention advocates that meet regularly to collaborate and strategize around reducing falls across the state. It is important for older adults to understand their risk of falling.  NCOA's Falls Free CheckUp is a digital assessment where older adults can answer 13 simple questions to get their falls risk score and steps to reduce their risk.
