State Plan on Aging

In accordance with the Older Americans Act of 1965, as amended, the Maryland Department of Aging is required to develop and implement a State Plan on Aging to provide a framework for activities related to programs, activities, and services for older adults. The current state plan is in effect October 1, 2016 through September 30, 2020.

In light of the public health emergency presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Maryland Department of Aging is hereby providing public notice of our intent to seek a one year extension from the U.S. Administration of Community Living. If approved, the existing State Plan would expire on September 30, 2021.

An update will be provided once a decision on the request for an extension is received. Please be assured we will provide a range of opportunities to engage your comments during the development of the next state plan. In the meantime, please provide any questions you may have on this notice of our intent to request a one-year extension by emailing mdoa.executiveoffice@maryland.gov.
