About the Maryland Commission on Aging
The Maryland Commission on Aging operates under statutory authority (Human Services § 10–208) and was modernized by the Longevity Ready Maryland (LRM) Act (Senate Bill 113/House Bill 278, 2026). The Commission is responsible for reviewing and advising the Maryland Department of Aging and its partners on the Longevity Ready Maryland Plan, providing insight into the legislative, policy, and systems changes that could assist with implementation of the plan, and recommending updates to current and future plans.
The Commission consists of 21 members, representing legislators, Area Agencies on Aging, community members, advocates, veterans, and experts in aging in the disciplines of healthcare, technology, academia, innovation, consumer protection, and the private sector and philanthropy.
